(7 Feb 2021) It's worth hiking through the predawn darkness on a cool summer morning to watch the sunrise from a high cliff overlooking Savage Gulf. It's like watching the very first sunrise of Creation! It's worth bending down close to a wildflower to smell the delicate fragrance and take a close-up photograph. It's worth getting up in the wee hours of a winter night to watch a meteor shower. It's worth scrambling down into a deep gorge to place your hand on the ancient rock wall and feel the ripple pattern left behind by a prehistoric stream that flowed when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. It's worth noticing a tiny polished pebble on the bottom of a gently flowing woodland stream. It's worth driving to the mountain where the snow is deeper and the icicles are larger. All of these things take effort. But the rewards are so so worth it!!!
The things of God also take effort. But God always has something special for those willing to make the extra effort. On this particular morning I had been hiking and praying and delighting in the snow for several hours when I heard,
Seek and you shall find!
You've learned to do it in the natural world - very well!
Now learn to do it in the spiritual world.
