Fewer Marriages and Children

We came upon this beautiful bride one morning while prayer-walking National Taiwan University. What a wonder is young love! But alas, she faces an uncertain future because selfishness is replacing love in Taiwan - just as it is doing in America. Consequently marriage and family are crumbling in Taiwan. Divorce is frequent and children are often seen as an unwelcome burden. The abortion rate is high. In 2010 Taiwan had the lowest birth rate in the world. The government is concerned about Taiwan's dwindling population and initiated an extensive publicity program to encourage young couples to have children.
