Ezekiel 47:1-5 (NIV) - ... I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the Temple toward the east .... As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits[a] and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in — a river that no one could cross.
Jesus As Savior - I hope that you are saved! But salvation is only the beginning of your Christian life. Some people want Jesus as Savior but not as Lord. So they stop at getting their feet wet. They settle for the bare minimum needed to be saved. They choose which commandments to obey and which to disregard. They follow Jesus when it is convenient or self-serving. But otherwise they continue to live much the same as before they were saved. In a word, they continue to live life on their own terms. That's certainly how I started out. Others wade deeper into the River - ankle deep, knee deep, or chest deep. But they cling to the security that comes from having their feet touch the bottom and go no deeper.
Jesus As Lord - But some people go so far that the water is over their head and they must swim! This is when your whole Christian life changes! Once you truly accept Jesus as Lord - once you stop compromising and decide to be 100% all in - you will experience Holy Spirit in a delightful new way! I have talked with countless people who have "taken the plunge." We all agree on this point. Holy Spirit is a person, and your relationship with Him is like your relationships with other people. As long as you sit on the fence, your relationship with Holy Spirit won't amount to much. But once you fully commit to the relationshp, He can begin to do things with you and tell you things that He couldn't when you were only a "half-way" friend.
John 14:21 (NLT) - "Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”."
