Raised Hands In a Methodist Church!!!

Bob

1 Timothy 2:8 - "Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands."

I used to attend a Methodist church because that is what my wife grew up with. Year after year, I was the only one who would lift a hand during our praise and worship services. The rest were the proverbial "Frozen Chosen!" One Sunday after we finished a particularly lovely worship song, I was FRUSTRATED by the lack of response from the congregation. I thought to myself,

“The ONLY way to get these people to raise their hands in church would be for the preacher to ask, 'How many of you saw the football game yesterday?' ”

Imagine my surprise when just a few seconds later that is EXACTLY what our preacher did! He stood up and asked the congregation, “How many of you saw the UT game yesterday?”

And for the first time ever since it was built in 1859, hands went up all over the sanctuary of the Methodist church! Of course it was not for the right reason. But nevertheless it really happened! I am NOT making this up!
